We had a few problems with our kitchen lights of late, whenever we’d replace a bulb, the other one would go. then a day later we’d see it flashing again, even though the bulb is brand new. We honestly did find ourselves constantly changing them, even with energy saving bulbs! After calling an electrician and having a few cables sorted out, we thought we’d get some new spotlights too. They’re smaller than our previous lights, but we’ve now upgraded to LED bulbs and the results have been incredible. The kitchen is lit up like a photography studio, and we haven’t had to change a bulb in months. It’s amazing how much difference a new set of lights can make, and we’re pleasantly surprised by the performance of our new kitchen spotlights.

Why Choose To Buy Metal Gates From Reputable Dealers In The UK?
With many investors and home owners increasingly coming up with new properties in UK, the demand for metal gates continues to rise. But what gives a challenge to most customers is purchasing longer lasting cheap metal gates from genuine dealers in town. And as much as the UK market is saturated with many dealers that specialise in wrought iron gates, customers can get many benefits if they consider buying the doors from reputable dealers. Here are reasons why any UK customer looking for metal gates should consider buying one or two from well-known suppliers.
A Variety of Wrought Iron Gates
Reputable dealers of metal gates will mostly acquire iron style gates directly from UK based factory. This means quality of door is guaranteed. And what’s more, one can have access to a variety of cheap metal gates including metal garden gates, driveway gates, and wrought iron side gates, residential as well as estate gates. The selections will involve bespoke and made-to-measure doors for customers wishing to add some touch of style to their gates. So customers have the luxury of choice in purchasing what will actually satisfy their specific needs. Continue reading
Carpets – The Main Considerations
When you’re planning on buying a new carpet, you can be forgiven for solely thinking about colour and nothing else. To many people, all carpets are the same, the only difference is the colour, but that’s completely untrue.
When you first bring home samples of carpets, you can really feel the difference. Some will feel thicker; another will feel softer, while another sample could feel fluffier. You can usually feel the difference between standard quality carpets and elite or premium samples, and we would argue that the feel is more important than the appearance.
Every carpet is unique and you should take the time to weigh up your options, because it’s something you’re going to be walking on almost every day. Most high-street carpet retailers will have a wide variety to choose between, and you’re always best visiting your local retailer first.
Flat Screen TVs – Why they look so much better on the wall
Some people think flat screen TVs can only work in contemporary homes, but that just isn’t the case. Whether your living room is classical with character grade wooden beams running through your home, or modern and suave with futuristic furniture, a flat screen TV will always look great, and even better when hung on the wall.
Today, simplistic styles are becoming more popular, and by having your TV on top of a TV unit or stand, you’re essentially using up space that you don’t need to. Led TVs are relatively light nowadays, even if you have one that’s 50 inches+.
So, all you need is a bracket to screw your TV onto, and this should then screwed into your wall. Some people now have their mains sockets and aerial leads directly behind the TV bracket, meaning no wires are on show, and that really boosts the simplistic style.
How to Make Your Rented Property Feel Like Your Own
With house prices skyrocketing and younger generations having to wait years to get onto the housing ladder, more and more people are renting their homes. A rental property has some restrictions – for example, you may not be able to put nails into the wall to hang up pictures. However, there are a number of ways in which you can design and decorate your rented property to make it reflect your own style and truly feel like home.
If you’re renting an older property which has a little bit of wear and tear, go with it. Use shabby chic accessories, vintage rugs and antique style furniture to fit with the aesthetic. Even if the property’s furnished, you can add in more furniture which is to your own taste, but which doesn’t have to cost a fortune. A large, heavy wooden bookcase can serve three very important functions – it’s good storage, can lend a room a sense of style, and can cover up a large amount of wallpaper which isn’t to your taste!
Equally, if your rented home is new and modern, it needn’t feel impersonal and clinical. Think of it as a blank canvass where you can make your mark. Add in small but useful pieces to make it feel cosier, like a freestanding lamp or a coffee table. Many modern properties will have tiled or wooden flooring, so make your living room feel more homely with a rug – you could even have two or three different ones to add colour, interest and a sense of modern chic.
Top 4 Country Kitchen Design Ideas
The thought of escaping a fast-paced city life will perhaps take you to a quiet and rustic country life, with roosters perching on your window sills and the scent of pine trees surrounding your senses. Despite all these imaginations, however, it takes a lot of skill and expertise to design an attractive country kitchen, one of the most functional rooms in any home. Understanding the challenges that you are likely to face, this article highlights some of the top kitchen design ideas that you may consider for an elegant country kitchen.
Elements of stone
If you only thought of wood for your country kitchen, perhaps it is time you understood that nature has more to offer, where stone cannot be locked out. If you particularly incorporate hints of stone to the fireplace hearth, it will elicit the same natural feel as wood. Another design idea including the use of stone is the application a flagstone floor all through the kitchen, resulting in an extraordinary bit of aggregate in your home. Quartz and granite are also perfect rock elements, but only when added to smaller places such as countertops.
Some primitive paint
In a country kitchen design, nothing works better than time-worn chipping paint. If you love a perfect chip-free home as is characteristic of urban kitchens, however, this may not be the best idea for you. In a country setting, this is the only idea that will set in place a relaxed mood and even allow your feet onto the coffee table once in a while for mischievous comfort.
Finding the Perfect Dressing Table
If you’re re-designing your bedroom, a dressing table can make a beautiful and practical feature within the room. There are all kinds of different designs you can choose from – shabby chic, French style, rustic, or perhaps something a little simpler depending on the aesthetic of the room. It’s getting harder to find that perfect dressing table, though, and many companies have limited ranges of furniture which include one. Dressing tables are as useful as they are pretty, so if choosing a new furniture range, you may want to start with the dressing table and fit everything else around it.
You can use the dressing table as the centrepiece for the room. Pretty vintage dressing tables are very popular, and you can accessorise them with large mirrors and attractive seating to make them a proper feature. They can transform the look of a room, giving it a whole new ambience depending on the style you choose. In fact, why not just update your current dressing table? It will appear totally different with some new accessories, and you could even give it a lick of paint to refresh the look if you’re feeling creative. Dove grey and ivory are attractive vintage shades which are easy to get hold of and can cover over whites, creams and even natural wood colours.

An Australian map on the wall in your bedroom could be a good start, or if you’d love to make it as an artist, get your work added to your walls.
Every design should have personality, but adding the right furniture can give you the inspiration to fulfill your lifelong ambition is even better. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you want to do, there are ways to bring those ambitions into the design of your home, so start thinking about your goals today.
