When people think about ‘rustic’ what usually comes to mind is wood, but it does actually have more potential than that. A rustic look basically means that it is unrefined, non-uniformed, and as natural as possible. For rustic furniture, getting one made from natural wood which hasn’t been treated with varnish or polish is your best bet, and with the handles having either an unpolished metal or plain wood are both good options. As for the type of wood, you can use pretty much any variety you want to, so you can still match the tone of the wood to the rest of your home and surroundings.
